Lots of people ask me “who did I lose weight” or “how can they lose weight. Through my experience the best way to lose weight is putting your body in a caloric deficit. In my opinion this is the most effective, healthy, natural, and sustainable method for weight loss. It helps your body react, adapt and recover from all the changes and here are 3 ways to achieve this:
Decrease energy intake. (Energy = Food)
Increase energy expenditure. (Exercise)
Or BOTH
Think of your body as a Jug of Water
If you fill a jug of water up and place it in the sink, that represents your “body mass”. If you turn the faucet on, the water entering the jug represents “energy intake”. So, what would happen if that water continues to pour into the already filled jug? It’ll overflow! And that’s what your body is doing, it’s overflowing with mass and energy.
But, if you take that same filled jug with water pouring into it, and you poke a hole in it, the hole representing (energy expenditure aka exercise) what would happen? Depending on how big the hole is (how much you exercise) and how much water it’s intaking, the jug would either stay as is (“I exercise but can’t lose weight) or show a slow decrease in mass.
However, if you take that same jug and decrease faucet pressure (energy intake), poke a big enough hole (energy expenditure aka exercise)
you would see the jug’s mass decrease much more rapidly. This is the fastest method too weight-loss in my opinion.
All three of these methods will put your body is a Caloric Deficit, but depending on age, abilities, and other variables choose which one works best for you. Also, one method can lead to the next it’s all about what works best for you and your journey.
